For those scuba divers grappling with vision impairments, the SeeDeep underwater glasses could potentially be the long-awaited solution.
These underwater glasses, designed specifically for scuba divers, come from the innovative minds at Dutch startup SeeDeep Diving Optics. The collaborative effort of inventor Jos Groeneveld and designer Bas Millenaart has given rise to this groundbreaking solution, poised to address the needs of divers with vision defects and slated for an upcoming market debut.

For many divers, the daily underwater exploration goes unnoticed, but for those with vision disabilities, it can pose significant challenges and expenses. The need for specialized lenses in a prescription dive mask adds to the cost and complexity of the experience.
Underwater vision is paramount for divers, as it influences not only their comfort but, more importantly, their safety. Accurate readings from dive computers, swift reactions, and the ability to notice intricate details are vital underwater. When water clarity is already a potential issue, vision problems can transform an enjoyable dive into a stressful and perilous endeavor, causing some individuals to abandon their passion for diving.
While various solutions for divers with vision impairments exist in the market, none of them are without their flaws. Most of these products were developed many years ago and haven't kept pace with technological advancements in the 21st century.
Enter SeeDeep glasses, a novel solution designed for farsighted divers, soon to hit the market. Unlike traditional solutions, these diving glasses offer versatility by being compatible with any diving mask.

SeeDeep comprises corrective lenses attached to an adjustable rubber strap that can be affixed externally to the mask. Encased within a sturdy anodized aluminum frame, these lenses are crafted from durable polycarbonate and boast scratch-resistant qualities. Consequently, donning or removing them, as well as diving itself, doesn't compromise visual clarity.

Additionally, the glasses feature a special silicone surface that prevents accidental slippage during dives. Divers can effortlessly adjust their position underwater to suit their needs. The manufacturer offers lens variants with four diopter options: +1, +1.25 +1.5, +1.75 +2.0, +2.5 and +3.0 and is awaiting patent approval for this innovative solution.
Production of the groundbreaking SeeDeep glasses is scheduled to commence in August 2024, with an estimated price of €69 per pair. Furthermore, there are plans for more upscale versions featuring stainless steel and titanium frames, catering to diverse preferences and budgets.
